WHAT IS QUALITY FUNCTION DEPLOYMENT (QFD)?
Quality function deployment is a crucial tool when trying to figure out what you need to do to satisfy or even please your consumers.Every business has clients. Some solely serve internal clients, some only serve external clients, and some serve both. Here we will come to know how Quality Function Deployment useful for a company.

BACKGROUND
QFD is a methodical approach for attentively hearing the customer’s voice and then effectively responding to their needs and expectations.
QFD was introduced to the United States in the early 1980s after being first created in Japan in the late 1960s as a type of cause-and-effect analysis. It first became well-known due to significant achievements in the auto sector.
METHODOLOGY
Quality is determined by how satisfied customers are with a good or service in QFD. QFD is a structured approach that uses the seven management and planning tools to rapidly and efficiently identify and prioritise customers’ demands.
The QFD process begins with the first matrix, also known as the House of Quality (Figure 1), and then focuses on the most crucial characteristics or qualities of the product or service. These are made up of the musts, wants, and wows of the customer. (See the Kano model of the gap between customer perception and reality.)
As demonstrated in Figure 2, QFD distributes the attributes and qualities to the appropriate organisational function for action once you have prioritised them. QFD is the application of customer-driven attributes to an organization’s accountable functions.
Course Objectives
After completing your Quality Function Deployment training, you will gain a basic understanding of:

- Identifying historical dates in QFD
- Summarizing the benefits of QFD
- Identifying the difference between a true customer need and a technical descriptor
- Calculating a phase, I QFD matrix
- Defining the focus within each of the four phases of a QFD process
- Identifying data necessary for every room in a four-phase QFD process
- Evaluating an example of ‘Houses of Quality.’

How will I benefit from this certification?
Companies use QFD to convert customer requirements into measurable design targets and drive them from the assembly level down through the sub-assembly, component and production process levels. Participants attending this course will understand a four-phase QFD process, know how to calculate a phase I QFD matrix and be able to determine the data necessary for moving into phases II, III, and IV in a QFD process. They will also learn the basics needed to design robust products and services, document process design strategies, and create control and maintenance strategies.
